Shut Down @ Central

Posted by:

Every year CrossFit Central shuts down the gym for 2 weeks during December. Some people think this is crazy and possibly detrimental to businness, but this schedule has worked out perfectly for our community and has actually increased sign ups. Some of our most committed members signed up after coming to a free workout during this time off. We also use this “off” time to launch our success stories including new success stories flyers that are promoted at each of the free workouts.

Benefits of the Shut Down:

  • This gives us an open week to hold free classes at the gym. We run a 6am, 12pm & 6pm class – open to the public. These are capped at 50 people and members are encouraged to bring their friends and family
  • Our trainers and staff are able to schedule in time off during the Holidays and travel
  • Back end staff are given the opportunity to catch up on end of year projects (if needed)

The Off Schedule:

  • Classes end Friday, December 17th
  • No classes: Monday, December 20th – 24th (PT allowed at the gym)
  • No classes: Monday, December 27th – 31st HOWEVER Free classes open to the public are offered (PT allowed, other than free class times)
  • Free Classes: Tuesday, December 28th – Thursday, December 30th
  • 2011 Classes begin Monday, January 3rd

Does your gym shut down for the Holidays? Why or why not?
