Relentless Pursuit aka The Slight Edge

Posted by:

When we map out our goals, start a new business or project we all want success and we want it now. In the beginning stages it can be difficult to see results or to quantify the buzz and energy you’re creating around your business. You have to get in the trenches everyday. You have to do the little things that make your business great (like get psyched to answer 100 emails, post on your website/facebook/twitter and provide excellent customer service – every day.) The day you let up is the day you fragment all of the momentum and hard work you put in.

CrossFit Central ran it’s first free Saturday community workout 5 years ago and no one showed up. The next month we held our second free Saturday community workout and no one showed up. The third month we had one person show up. One year later we held our largest free workout with over 150 people. The bottom line is that we didn’t give up because no one came to the workout. We kept pursuing our goal, getting the word out, networking, etc This momentum and hard work began to add up and our buzz increased. We continue to dig in every day.

We’re in it for the long haul, for the marathon….we just all happen to enjoy (and are good at) running really fast. Your actions create your results, DO WORK and don’t let up.

Below is a great excerpt from Adrien Rudesal’s Blog, Co Founder of CrossFit Round Rock & September Garage Gym Blueprint graduate.

Patience….

“For anything worth having one must pay the price; and the price is always work, patience, love and self-sacrifice.” — John Burroughs

This the first pic Landon and I took at the gym of the very 1st shipment of equipment for CrossFit Round Rock. We have come so far and sacrificed so much to be where we are now. But what can I say….I WANT MORE…and I want it NOW! Now is too soon. Yes I know this is not possible but, it’s hard to have patience with something you want so bad. Something that keeps you up at night. So I will have patience with the growth process of CFRR. Enjoy every second of every day of growing our dream and help as many people as possible fall in love with the sport of CrossFit.

This is exactly how I feel about my pursuit to turn my photography hobby into a small business. There's light at the end of the tunnel!

@Roger There is absolutely light at the end of the tunnel! We've seen your site & you've got skills! Have you read Gary V's book - Crush It? This is a GREAT tool for turning your passion into a business.

That is great and very inspirational. those are my sentiments. Its easy to get discouraged reading about the CF gyms that open with 20 and 30 memebers outta the gate.

Point well taken about the community workouts too...relentless pursuit! and patience. We have been open since Jan 3rd this year and have 4 members so far. I sooooo am learning to exercise patience.

@Keefa Keep at it! Continue to do the things that define your success - engage, reach out, network, cultivate and do it again and again and again. Bring the fire and CRUSH IT!
