At CrossFit Central all of our coaches and staff are required to have a blog. This is simply apart of our culture, when someone is hired on to the team they fill out their paperwork, are given a company email address and asked to start a blog. This is a win-win for both the staff member and the company. For the coach this platform becomes their personal website. They can promote their personal training, their classes or supplements. CrossFit Central links to their site and will look to feature them on the front page as additional content for the visitor. At the same time CrossFit Central SEO rises as more staff members are plugging in key words, talking about and linking to the “main site”.
**By Blog 3 x’s per day we meant 3 x’s per week. But hey – if you are able to put out great content 3 x’s per day – DO IT!
- Pick a blog platform
Wordpress
Blogger
Tumblr
All of these are great options but our rec goes to tumblr for its bonus social functions. This platform makes it super simple to follow other blogger’s and have them follow you. Their “tumble” feature, or re-blog feature is an exceptional way to share content. - Put out content
We recommend putting out content at least 3 times per week, but you should aim to produce at least one great blog post a week and get people talking via facebook and twitter.
- Just Do It.
Everyone asks, “What do I blog about?”. Your clients, friends and family want to get to know you as their coach and as a person. What makes up your personal brand? Is it nutrition, strong man, endurance, cooking, expert shoe advice? Blog about that. If you are authentic and share your story – people will gravitate to your blog. - Set a schedule
Most of us operate better with expectations and schedules. To make sure you’re consistent – develop a blog schedule for yourself. Example – every Tuesday & Thursday @ 12pm schedule a blog post to go up. You can also schedule posts to publish on each of the above platforms. If you’re an “organizer kind of person” it might work best if you set up your posts for the week and then schedule them to go out at certain times.
